It’s easier than ever to keep your child healthy, even if you’re constantly on the go. Here are 5 simple steps to keeping your baby or child healthy!
1) Wash Your Hands
Diseases spread from one person to another by contact. Germs on your hands can easily be transferred to your baby’s mouth and
other areas of their body. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially before eating, preparing food, changing diapers, cleaning up a child who has vomited or had diarrhea, blowing your nose or coughing and after using the toilet.
The last tip is to teach kids to wash their hands all the time!
2) Get Vaccinated
Talk to your pediatrician about what vaccinations are right for your baby. Vaccinations will not only keep your child healthy but they can also make an illness less severe. Children are often more vulnerable to catching illnesses than adults, so it's important that they are vaccinated early on in life.
3) Breastfeed
Breastfeeding is one of the most important things a mom can do to keep her baby healthy. Breast milk contains antibodies that protect against infection and, while breastfeeding also provides good nutrition, it is also packed with all sorts of nutrients that support brain development, like DHA and essential fatty acids.
4) Use Sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen is one of the best ways to keep your baby's delicate skin healthy. According to a study by Dr. Brenner, babies who are outdoors for more than four hours per day should be wearing at least SPF 30 sunscreen. This recommendation holds true if the baby is in shade or sun. Once they reach three months old, start using at least SPF 50 to keep them protected all year round!
5) Choose Organic
-Choose Organic When Possible: It's never too early to start the practice of healthy eating and organic choices. Your child is constantly taking in what you give them, which is why it's so important to keep this in mind from the very beginning.
-Get Plenty of Sleep: We all know how exhausting babies and children can be, but neglecting sleep can have a negative effect on your health and that of your family as well. Make sure you're getting a good eight hours every night!
